Christmas Neighbors Questions and Answers

➤ What programs are available?

Christmas Neighbors offers two programs, the Toy Program/Gift Distribution and the Adopt a Family program. The Toy program/Gift Distribution requires that you come to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds on distribution day (at your enrolled time) and allows you to select a $50 gift (for each child you have enrolled in the program), a family blanket, a food box, selections of hats/mittens, gently used household items, wrapping paper and books.

The Adopt a Family program matches you with a sponsoring individual, organization or business that contacts you directly to make arrangements to deliver a gift per enrolled child and a family meal. If there are inadequate sponsors for families choosing this option, you are automatically enrolled in the Toy Program/Gift Distribution.

➤ When is the 2025 distribution day at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds for the Toy Program?

The distribution day for 2025 will be Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

➤ How do I qualify and how do I enroll in the program?

To qualify for the program, you must first be a resident of Jefferson County Wisconsin. The second qualification is that you must be enrolled in one of the following county/state/federal programs: Badger Care, WIC, Medicaid, SNAP (food share), Head Start and Free Lunch. Only children senior in High School and younger are eligible to be enrolled.

To enroll in the program, call (920) 674-4400 starting on Monday, November 3, 2025. Phones are monitored Monday through Friday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. You will be asked to provide your name, address, a contact phone number, which of the eligible programs you are participating in, the names of the children you are enrolling, their gender (used by our shoppers when purchasing toys for the event), and age. If you are participating in the Toy Program/Gift Distribution you will also be asked to select from among available time slots to come to the Fairgrounds on distribution day.

➤ When does enrollment end?

The last day of enrollment is Monday, December 8, 2025

➤ We are interested in adop1ng a family or families? How do we enroll as a sponsor for that program?

Starting Monday, November 3, 2025 call (920) 674-4499. We will have a staff of volunteers answering the phones that will enroll you as an adopter. You will be asked to provide your name, address and contact information and whether you are representing an organization. You will be asked if you are interested in adopting one or more families, if there are age limits for the children you wish to adopt and if you wish to restrict your adoptions to a specific community within Jefferson County.

Once that information is received our volunteers will match you with respective families and mail you the information for each family you adopt. You will be asked to contact the families directly to discuss the specifics of what you will be providing and set a date/time for drop-off.

➤ How do I sign up as a volunteer for the event at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds?

On or a8er November 3, 2025 call (920) 674-4400.

➤ How do I donate toys and food items for the event?

Food items can be brought to the Fairgrounds on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. We have generous corporate donations for canned vegetables and fresh meat. Items generally in short supply include: boxes of cereal, canned meat (tuna/chicken), peanut butter and canned fruit.

Starting November 3rd, Toy items may be dropped off at one of our collection sites.

➢ All Premier Bank, Badger Bank and Fort Community Credit Union locations

➢ County City Credit Union, Theisen’s or Tan-A-Latte in Jefferson

➢ Paddy Shack Golf and Gaming in Fort Atkinson

➢ Jefferson County Fairgrounds on set up day, Tuesday, December 16th.

➤ Do you accept used household items and toys?

We happily accept gently used household items and toys. We are not a drop-off site for places like Goodwill and the Salvation Army; so, we kindly ask that donated items be gently used, clean and in good working order. Gently uses sports equipment has become a popular item for program participants.
